Xbox 360 elite - review! - when microsoft launched xbox they were charting in to an unknown territory dominated by their rival sony' s ever so popular playstation series. This achievement didn' t slow them down and they managed to put Xbox 360 on the market a full one year before Sony came out with their Playstation Now you wouldn' t expect Microsoft to just sit back and watch Sony play catch up would you? But Microsoft had done their homework and the Xbox made some serious dent into Sony' s market share.
One year was more than enough for the developers at Microsoft to figure out the shortcomings of the Xbox 360 and with the launch of Xbox 360 Elite they have put forward more than a gaming console. - the first thing you will notice is the color. It' s a highly versatile multimedia entertainment system. Its smooth matte black finish is a welcome change from the matte white of the erstwhile Xbox 360s. So what makes this system" Elite" ? Apart from that nothing much has changed on outside except for HDMI 2 connector added for better connectivity. Well the Elite comes with a detachable 120 GB HDD which is a welcome change from the whimsical 20 GBs shipped with the 360 premium.
Its support for HD output means you can view the HD movies in full HD resolution ensuring the best visual experience and it also upscales the regular DVDs to HD resolution. - this basically translates in to more storage for you to store movies and music on to you elite and use it as a htpc. Microsoft has also thrown in, apart from the usual wireless controller, a headset for you to use with the included Silver membership to the Xbox live service. You can also download a lot of content from the Live marketplace. This means not only you can chat with friend online but also taunt other plays as you blast them in to oblivion. Apart from this there is also a one month free Gold subscription for you try the complete access package to the Xbox Live service. Microsoft has ensured that the best titles out there are available for you.
And what can we say about the games? - you name and they have it! So there you go, movies, you have games, music, online community and what not all thrown in to one amazing package. In fact the 360 is also backwards compatible with old Xbox games through a simple software emulation that you can order for free from Microsoft. Microsoft has left no stone unturned and the success of the 360 proves it. What' s next?
With the Elite Microsoft have put forward the ultimate multimedia convergence device that looks to take place of the HTPC and provide the entire family with loads of entertainment.
